The RED V-RAPTOR XL (X) 8K VV is a powerful cine camera that combines the strengths of REDs two families of cameras into one all-purpose workhorse. With its advanced features and cutting-edge technology, it provides an amazing image enhanced on-set experience for filmmakers.
The V-RAPTOR XL (X) boasts a 8K VV sensor, which is the culmination of the advancements of both the V-RAPTOR line and the KOMODO. This sensor leverages the latest technology to deliver stunning image quality, high frame rates, and impressive light sensitivity. All of this is housed in a large-scale-production ready XL camera body.
Designed for high-end motion picture and television productions, as well as any filmmaker looking for an all-in-one solution, the V-RAPTOR XL (X) supports a wide range of common batteries found on set today. It also features a built-in electronic ND, allowing for precise selection of density in ¼, 1/3, and full stop increments. This provides unprecedented exposure and depth of field control for a cinema camera of this level.
The V-RAPTOR XL (X) also offers various tools for camera assistants, including dual voltage battery support, 12V and 24V auxiliary power outputs, and compatibility with the DSMC3 RED Touch 7.0″ LCD. It also supports wireless timecode, genlock, and camera control, making it a versatile and convenient choice for any production.
The V-RAPTOR XL (X) and the DSMC3 platform also feature advanced connectivity solutions, such as remote control and monitoring, in-camera Frame.io integration, and RED Connect for live 8K R3D video over IP or live 4K over SMPTE ST 2110. This allows for improved in-camera audio performance and run and gun single system audio setups.
The V-RAPTOR XL (X) is also equipped with RED Global Vision, a suite of tools that use the global shutter sensor to provide even more flexibility and ease of use throughout the production process. This includes Extended Highlights, which allows for more detail in highlight areas for HDR finishes or softer highlight roll-off for SDR. It also includes Phantom Track, which streamlines any Virtual Production environment and allows for monitoring of distinct R3D clips per sub-frame slice.

V-RAPTOR XL (X) is designed to support high-end motion picture and television productions as well as any filmmaker who would benefit an all-in-one solution.
Dual voltage battery support offers compatibility with a wide range of common batteries found on set today, both 14 V batteries and high voltage 26 V V-Lock or Gold Mount options.
Built-in electronic ND allows cinematographers to precisely select their density in ¼, 1/3, and full stop increments, providing never before seen exposure and depth of field control inside a cinema camera of this level.
12 V and 24 V auxiliary power outputs allows camera assistants to power all the peripherals needed to do their job from one centralized place.

GLOBAL VISION
V-RAPTOR XL (X) 8K VV is pushed to new limits with the introduction of RED Global Vision, a new suite of tools that use the global shutter sensor to provide even more flexibility and ease of use throughout the production process. Global Vision’s Extended Highlights allows the camera to see even further into highlight detail, providing more detail for HDR finishes, or softer and more subtle highlight roll-off for SDR. RED Global Vision also includes Phantom Track to streamline any Virtual Production environment employing GhostFrameTM or Frame Remapping, capturing distinct R3D clips per each sub-frame slice, as well as allowing for monitoring of either slice live on-set over each SDI.
EXTENDED WARRANTY
The camera comes with a two (2) year standard warranty. Cameras are eligible for Extended Warranty, which extends the standard warranty for two (2) additional years after the initial standard warranty period expires.
