OVERVIEW
The V-RAPTOR XL 8K S35 camera is the latest addition to the powerful and advanced RED camera platform. It comes with the multi-format 8K W + 6K S35 sensor or the all-new 8K S35, providing the convenience and lens selection of the Super35mm format with the flexibility of 8K acquisition. The all-in-one body of the camera measures 8.5″ x 6.5″ x 6″ and weighs only 8lbs with a PL Mount.

One of the standout features of the V-RAPTOR XL is its electronic ND system, which allows for precise exposure control down to 1/4 stop increments. This gives cinematographers and camera shaders unprecedented control over their exposure and depth of field. The camera also has an interchangeable lens mount, providing even more flexibility for different shooting scenarios.

The V-RAPTOR XL is designed to support high-end television, natural history, broadcast, and motion picture productions, as well as any filmmaker looking for an all-in-one solution. It is a dual voltage camera system, supporting both low voltage 14V batteries and high voltage batteries in both V-Lock and Gold Mount options. This makes it a versatile choice for any production.

The camera also features an array of high-performance 12V and 24V outputs, allowing camera assistants to power all the peripherals they need from one centralized place. It has front facing 3G-SDI and 2-Pin 12V power, as well as compatibility with the DSMC3 RED Touch 7.0” LCD, catering to different camera operators’ viewing preferences. The V-RAPTOR XL also supports wireless timecode, genlock, and camera control, as well as four SDI outputs, providing easy access to everything a DIT or camera shader needs at their cart or truck.

In addition, the V-RAPTOR XL comes with a built-in Ambient Lockit module capable of wirelessly syncing timecode and genlock. This feature, along with the electronic ND system, makes the V-RAPTOR XL a perfect choice for on-set productions.

The V-RAPTOR XL and the DSMC3 platform also offer advanced connectivity solutions, such as RED Connect for 8K R3D cinematic live streaming and remote record, remote control and monitoring, in-camera Frame.io integration, AWS direct upload, and more. At the heart of the V-RAPTOR XL is the same 8K S35 sensor found in the V-RAPTOR 8K S35. This format is ideal for projects that require both Super35mm lensing and 8K acquisition. It allows for the use of lightweight zooms or vintage primes while still capturing at 8K 120P for stunning high-resolution slow motion. The V-RAPTOR sensor scan time is also 2x faster than any previous RED camera, and it can capture up to 600fps at 2K. The V-RAPTOR XL also supports REDCODE RAW codec, allowing for 16-bit RAW capture and leveraging RED’s latest IPP2 workflow and colour management.

V-RAPTOR XL is a dual voltage camera system, supporting both low voltage 14V batteries as well as high voltage batteries in both V-Lock and Gold Mount options. V-RAPTOR XL features the most flexible power ecosystem available in the market today.

Featuring the same 8K S35 sensor found inside the V-RAPTOR 8K S35, this format is ideal for any project where both Super35mm lensing and 8K acquisition is required. Leverage lightweight zooms or vintage primes while still capturing at 8K 120P for stunning high resolution slow motion. In addition, the V-RAPTOR sensor scan time is 2x faster than any previous RED camera and it allows users to capture up to 600 fps at 2K. V-RAPTOR XL will also continue to feature RED’s proprietary REDCODE RAW codec, allowing users to capture 16-bit RAW, and leverage RED’s latest IPP2 workflow and color management.
