The Leica 50-200mm f2.8-4 zoom lens offers premium quality in a compact body.

The focal range of the lens provides 24-6.2° angles of view, similar to those from a 100-400mm lens for a full frame system, but with the optional convertors will act as a 140-560mm f/4-5.6 or 200-800mm f/5.6-8.

The lens is dust- and freeze-proof and offers 5-axis image stabilisation as part of the Lumix Dual IS ll system. Constructed from 21 elements in 15 groups, it uses 2 aspherical lenses, 2 Ultra Extra-low Dispersion elements, 2 Ultra-low Dispersion elements and an element in Ultra High Resolution glass to maintain image sharpness and detail. Image shift has also been reduced by fixing the second group of elements when the lens is zoomed, and that smoother zooming is possible to produce better movie footage.

A micro-stepper is used to control the nine-bladed iris to ensure aperture changes can be performed smoothly and un-noticeably during video recording, and the speed of the AF system will be governed by a 240fps AF drive that will also reduce focus wobble.
