Lindsey Optics 4×5.65 138mm Rotapol Filter

Overview
The Lindsey Optics Brilliant² Rota Pol is a rotating polarising filter designed to fit 4″ x 5.65″ cine matte boxes. It allows for simple and effective rotation of the included 138mm Round Brilliant-Pol Circular Polariser, which is useful for wider angle lenses and large zoom lenses. The rotation can be done by hand or with a motor mounted on the handle, and the filter is mounted on an all-aluminium main gear for smooth movement.

The polarising filter is made with Schott B270 “water white” optical glass and has a broadband anti-reflection coating. It reduces reflections on glass, water, and other reflective objects, as well as saturating blue skies and increasing colour saturation in landscapes. The Brilliant² Rota Pol is compatible with various professional matte boxes, but not with RedRock Micro matte boxes. It can also be delivered with a Linear Polariser on request.

About the Lindsey Optics 4×5.65 138mm Rotapol Filter
The Lindsey Optics Brilliant² Rota Pol is designed to fit 4” x 5.65” cine matte boxes and allow simple and effective rotation of the included 138mm Round Brilliant-Pol Circular Polariser. A Rota-Pol polarising filter is sometimes called Rota Pola or RotaPola, it’s the same type of product. The included large 138mm diameter polariser is useful even with wider angle lenses and large zoom lenses

Rotation of the polariser can be done by spinning either of the two thumb wheels by hand or with a motor mounted on the 1/4–20 thread in the handle. Our superior mechanical design includes an all-aluminium main gear in which the138mm Brilliant Pol Circular Polariser filter is mounted. That main gear rests on internal rollers for smooth rotation and is driven by Delrin thumb wheels with standard 0.8 pitch gear teeth for use with motorised wireless remote systems.

Now you can have a rotating polariser in your matte box, even if your matte box does not have a rotating filter stage. Even in matte boxes with a rotating stage, our Rota-Pol is quick to insert in any matte box that accepts 4″ x 5.65″ filters. Once installed, it’s easy to adjust and does not cause any interference with rods in a rod mounted matte box. Normally delivered with a mounted 138mm Circular Polariser, It can also be delivered with a Linear Polariser on request. Note that the “Circular” in Circular Polariser refers to the polariser itself, not to the rotating polariser (rota-pola) functionality of the mount. As with all circular polarisers, the Brilliant Pol Circular Polarisers are constructed with two internal components, a linear polariser that will reduce reflections when rotated and a “quarter wave plate” that spins the light entering the camera lens, preventing any cross polarisation inside the camera and lens system.

Lindsey Optics Brilliant-Pol Polarising Filters are constructed using Schott B270 “water white” optical glass and has a broadband anti-reflection coating. They are ground and polished to be very flat and have 38% transmission, resulting in a 1.5 stop light reduction. Brilliant-Pol Polarisers are extremely efficient at reducing reflections on glass, water and other reflective objects. They also can saturate blue sky and increase colour saturation in landscapes by reducing micro-reflections in the scene.

The Brilliant² Rota Pol rotating polariser works with Arri, Bright Tangerine, Chrosziel and Vocas and other professional matte boxes. It does not work with RedRock Micro matte boxes.
